Over a month and a half ago, the United States of America and Israel launched attacks on Iran in what seemed to be an unprovoked attack. It was later revealed that America claimed Iran held a nuclear threat within its weaponry and Israel backed them, as-well as their own reasons. Attacks continued for 7 days consecutively, using C-130 Hercules, being supported by C-35 Stratotankers. Several countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain condemned their actions. However, Britain has allowed the United States to use their airbases, under the permission of Keir Starmer. US planes could be seen in places such as Kent and Norfolk. Spain has refused to let the United States use any of their airbases and France has closed their airspace to all fighter and military jets. Donald Trump, the US President proceeded to quote "The Spanish have been terrible" but also saying they are nice people. He then proceeded to call the UK weak and only wanting to join in after the war was won. The UK then sent HMS Dragon, one of its warships to Cyprus, after the alleged Iranian strikes on a UK airbase in Cyprus. Now, just 3 days ago, a two week ceasefire was declared after Trump threatened to bomb Iran into never being able to be a civilisation again. However, the deal already looks shaky, with Israel still striking Lebanon and the Iranians reportedly closing the Strait of Hormuz again after having done once before, four days after the attacks started.
What are the consequences?
• Oil has shot up, as over 30% of the worlds oil is passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
• Trump has threatened to leave NATO for its lack of support.
• Several countries may now be facing oil shortages.
