Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed the prospect of holding direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying he sees no reason for a face to face meeting despite Kyiv's latest call for negotiations.
On Thursday, Zelensky published an open letter urging Putin to engage in direct discussions aimed at ending the war between the two countries. He argued that it was a mistake to wait for the conflict, which began after Russia launched its full scale invasion in 2022, to regain prominence in US political attention.
