The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that there is currently no evidence of a widespread hantavirus transmission following the final evacuation of a luxury cruise liner. This update comes as the last remaining passengers were cleared from the vessel.

Current Status of the MV Hondius

The ship departed Tenerife on Monday, setting a course for Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The final 28 passengers were repatriated on Tuesday, arriving at Eindhoven via two dedicated flights.

Despite the optimistic outlook regarding a mass outbreak, the virus has already exacted a significant toll:
